Red McKay is the European managing director at Bossa Nova Robotics, based in Sheffield, UK, heading up operations in retail robotics and artificial intelligence.
With almost 20 years working in global retail business development and supply chain roles for international household names such as Walmart / Asda, Maplin and Woolworths, today Red is at the very forefront of retail automation, real-time data analysis and artificial intelligence.
Combining his retail industry experience with his understanding of transformative robotics technology, Red offers a unique perspective on what challenges retailers are facing in an increasingly data-driven and competitive age.
A regular guest on political steering groups and industry advisory boards, Red is also incredibly passionate about the positive impact technology and innovation can have on local communities, schools and higher education opportunities.
We caught up with Red and asked him the following questions...
- What do you think the next big thing in tech is? Human and animal bionics meshed with AI to improve mechanical and neurological function, something that could be ground breaking and shape the future of medicine/ human function and capability
- What did you want to be when you were growing up? I wanted to be in the SAS, simply due to the fact that they are the best at what they do and respected world wide. I liked the fact that they were effective outside of the gaze of the public and media.
- Who would your dream dinner party guest be? Professor Alice Roberts (evolutionary biologist) or Joe Rogan (Comedian, Podcast Host and MMA Commentator)
